Hotel Grand Hansa - Entrance Bar

The entrance bar is the first sight you see when you enter the main doors of Grand Hansa, a crucial part of the hotel and its union with the city. The bar is located in the original New Student House, Uusi Ylioppilastalo, which has built in 1910, where Hotel Hansa operated from 1924 to 1968 and gained high popularity among the Finnish intellectuals.

In this new phase, it was fundamental to respect the original spaces, which are protected by The Finnish Heritage Agency, while creating something contemporary. Through a systematic collaboration, the right balance was eventually found. For instance, the original colours of the spaces, petrol and shades of blue, were reinterpreted.

Today, the entrance bar breathes life into its surroundings on Mannerheimintie and seamlessly turns into a new meeting place in the heart of Helsinki - for locals and foreigners alike.
