Hotel Grand Hansa - Rooms
2024
Hotel Grand Hansa, part of NH Collection, is the newest 5 Star Hotel in Helsinki. The project, which Carola Rytsölä and her team started back in 2019, lasted five years.
Hotel Grand Hansa is the result of the union of three historical buildings in the heart of Helsinki; the Kaleva - Seurahuone, a mix of Baroque and Classicism, the Hansa building, and the New Student House - Uusi Ylioppilastalo, a representation of the Central European Art Nouveau style. Now, it has become a hotel that unites history, culture, art and a Finnish identity, for locals and foreigners to enjoy.
At Hotel Grand Hansa’s main entrance, guests are greeted by four figures on the facade, all representing a different temperament from antiquity, inspired by the doctrine of the ancient Claudius Galenus, Roman-Greek physician and philosopher.
Every room type has drawn inspiration from these, based on their atmosphere and function. Each tendency can be sensed in the colour schemes, furniture and textures. The design of the rooms pays homage to the architectural and decorative details of the historic buildings, both from the interior and the exterior, and the verticality of the original facade.
