Kupoli Bar
2024
A historic attic transformed into a bar in the city centre of Helsinki. This once hidden attic was only accessible by ladder through a small hatch. Today, it’s been reimagined as the Kupoli bar, offering a 360-degree view of the Helsinki skyline.
The Kupoli project, one of the most challenging parts of the Grand Hansa renovation, took over five years to complete. The most significant task involved creating an opening between the 7th and 8th floors and installing new support structures for the dome.
With the tower and building protected as landmarks, the Finnish Heritage Agency was involved in the process. They requested the preservation of the "attic atmosphere" and the addition of copper details on the terrace - both of which were achieved.
Now, sleek steel and massive wooden beams frame the space, with the bar centered beneath the dome. Kupoli isn’t just a bar - it’s an experience at the heart of Helsinki.
